Amazing Grace

As some of you may know, Steph and Dave had their worlds turned upside down following the recent diagnosis of their beautiful one year old daughter Grace with Neuroblastoma, a rare, aggressive form of children’s cancer.

8 weeks after her first birthday, Grace was diagnosed with Stage 4, high risk, Neuroblastoma. Doctors found a tennis ball sized tumour between her kidney and her liver and further tests confirmed the cancer had spread to the bone.

The family had transferred to South Hedland a couple of months earlier and Steph had to leave Dave and their 2 year old son in South Hedland and move to Perth ( 1,600kms away) for Grace to have treatment in Perth Children’s Hospital.

So far, Grace has undergone four cycles of Chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumour. Over the next 12 months she will have to have the following treatment;

-two more cycles of Chemo

-Mega Therapy, putting her in isolation for a period of time

-Radio Therapy which involves a general anaesthetic every day during the treatment

-Immuno Therapy.

 

Steph and Dave have not asked for anything during this difficult journey as they don’t want to ‘burden’ anyone else. Dave has continued to work to support the family however at the cost of not being able to spend precious time with his very sick little girl. The family had to make the decision to transfer back to Perth so they could spend as much precious time together as possible.

No family should ever have to go through what the Garbetts are going through. Whilst their lives have come to a standstill, their bills and financial commitments keep coming. We are hoping to alleviate some of the financial pressure to allow them to concentrate on what really matters right now.

Any donations no matter how big or small will make a huge difference to the family and help them to with everyday bills and expenses they never expected to have to pay. On top of going towards bills, donations will help the family to cover start-up costs and ongoing rent in Perth to allow the family to be back together where they belong. Any funds raised that aren’t used in association with Grace’s treatment and financial issues the family may have as a result of the diagnosis will be donated to Neuroblastoma research.
