Emergency home repairs.
Our landlord, who purchased the home in June, is not going to renew our lease. We were informed of this less than 30 days before we were supposed to renew with the old owner.
This put in a hell of a bind. Our tiny savings account dried up earlier this year when my wife lost her job.
We are fortunate that she was able to find work within a few weeks and we had our bills/ rent (barely) current.
But the hits keep on coming.
During her last week of training she had to get her appendix removed after it ruptured. 2 weeks of wages were lost. Luckily her employer is letting her restart training.
As of now we CANNOT afford a rental deposit on on a new place. Many are asking over $4k to move in.
We were lucky to have friends with some extra space and they allowed us to move in, with no deposit, provided we could repair the floors for safety, build a wall for our bedroom, and repair water damage in the bathroom.
Our son would be taking the complete, and safe, room.
We are raising funds to help us purchase the materials to build a bedroom wall, replace the subfloor (it's like walking on a sponge in spots), and repair damage in the bathroom we would be using. We will be doing the work ourselves.
