EXHIBIT A GALLERY NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Donation protected
Exhibit A Gallery is an established contemporary art gallery with an edge. Exhibit A Gallery opened in 2008 with the idea of giving creative people a place to congregate. An artistic environment that is owned and operated by artists and allow those in the creative fields a place to express, share and merge their ideas with one another. Whether it is the visual arts, music, fashion, skating etc. Exhibit A Gallery is a place that celebrates artists and their works within a Rock N Roll atmosphere. Exhibit A Gallery delivers an art experience that stimulate all the senses. Those who love unbridled creativity and diversity are always welcomed. This would be the driving force for years to come. This fine balance spawned many friendships, business relationships, careers of friends and peers alike.

Andy Biersack speaks about Exhibit A Gallery, Richard Villa III and the Revelation In Black Art Show

In early February 2013, we got notice that our landlord had sold the building, and the new landlord wanted to move into our space as soon as possible. After being at the 1086 S Fairfax  location for what was approaching eight years, this was a complete shock and a loss for us personally. Blindsided by this, we had to find a new space, fast! To, at the time what seemed like luck, six doors down was a vacant building. In a matter of a few months and tens  of thousands of dollars later, we moved and settled into our current location. After being at our new gallery for not even three months, In August 2013, a man walked into the gallery with a clipboard in hand. he asked "Is this 1056?" our response very proud "yes, we are Exhibit A Gallery" he walked inside, looked around, went upstairs, took four pictures and simply left. And that's where it all began. Our building was not up to city code.

BEFORE THE DEMOLITION

For the past year, outside entities have ruined our reality, momentum and future. These outside entities didn't come in forms of shadows and demons, but in forms of suit and tie Los Angeles city officials, the endless city inspections, architects, lawyers, building owners, landlords,D.W.P, insurance companies and more. They threatened the very place so many artists, musicians, creatives and fans have called home for many years.

Beginning in May of 2014, the entire gallery was demolished, reconstructed, inspected and all future projects were completely haulted. It was first told to us that it would take only two weeks to bring the gallery up to code with the city of Los Angeles. Those two weeks eventually turned into one month, then to three months of major construction, which continued to four more months of minor constructions, interruptions and many more inspections, and now its approaching the one year mark. Besides being majorly inconvenienced and stressed beyond belief; our productivity was reduce to over 75%, clients were lost, studio artists had to be let go due to lack of funds, exhibitions were majorly postponed or canceled, all downstairs gallery activity was halted, revenue generated from the gallery was nonexistent, there were many days were we weren't even permitted to be near the gallery, our safety was at risk even being inside, endless noise of jack hammers & drills, damage to personal property, all the mental and emotional damage, and if that was not enough, there was no bathroom for over a month. This continues to this day, our building is yet to be finished. Many of our customers and potential new customers were loss because judging by our building, inside and out, they thought we moved.

BUILDING NOT UP TO CODE
DEMOLITION BEGINS

Now almost one year later, the construction seems to be complete, with it's excessive embellishments of unnecessary city upgrades and with the plumbing, electrical, structural, handicap and green inspections finally behind us, WE HOPE. We are now seeing the consequences of this hardship and our gallery is at risk. Due to the lack of revenue and exactly zero financial compensation from these responsible entities, (which includes our insurance company who we've had for seven years, refused to reimburse us for damaged art and property due to the construction), we are at a stand still and the future of Exhibit A Gallery remains to be unknown.

This is where YOU come in. We are asking for any contributions to keep Exhibit A Gallery alive and a thriving gallery once again. Blood ,sweat, tears and every last penny has literally been put into making this Gallery become what it is today and to be derailed by situations beyond our control, it would truly be devastating to see all of Exhibit A Gallery's accomplishments, passion, hard work, business and gallery lost. We've exercised every avenue possible to undue the damage this reconstruction has caused to our business and this campaign may be our last resort.
