In May of this year, Rod and Wendy, along with their 4 children, received horrible news in regards to Rod’s health. His most recent brain scan revealed another brain tumour, after being cancer free for two years. 

This was not Rod’s first experience with brain cancer - in 1995 he had a tumour removed, and received a lifetime supply of radiation. Then again in 2015, the same tumour began growing back. This time it was inoperable, but it responded well to chemo, and by 2017 he was cancer free again, for the second time. Needless to say, as shocking as the news was in 2015 that the cancer had grown back, this last diagnoses of a brand new tumour, was the most shocking and unexpected, and rocked the family to it’s core. 

Unfortunately, on August 23rd, they were informed that the chemo was no longer working. 

There was an option to try a second drug instead with very low rates of stopping the cancer, and very high rates of fatal side effects (less than 20% of stopping the cancer from growing larger, but very little chance that it would make any difference). Rod has decided not to go forward with this medication in hopes to enjoy the little time he has left, which doctors have suggested is 2-3 months.

This family has already been through so much, and to those of you that know Rod and Wendy Owen, you know that they revolve their lives around helping others. Rod and Wendy still have two children living at home, Brock (22) and Devon (17). Any donations received will help lessen the financial burden of losing their husband, and father, and allow them to spend some much needed family time together, without the stress of money and bill payments.
