Dearest friends and family
This past Tuesday, our family suffered an unexpected and devastating loss:our dear Mama Linda (aged 55), my most loving mother-in-law, suffered a heart attack collapsed and died   just a few short weeks before her beloved son Jimmy (my hubby) and our family were to be reunited with her for the holidays after 3 years apart. Her youngest daughter Emma witnessed the painfully heartbreaking event sadly unable to do anything to help her mother.

Mama Linda was so excited to meet her newest grandson,  Malik--who she affectionately called 'my big head baby-- and to 'lecture' with her 3 year old grand
daughter Izzie in person -- after lecturing on the phone at least a few times a day.

Our Mama Linda was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend - a funny, generous, faithful African
woman with a heart of  gold. Her home was always open to whomever anyone in need, she fed countless people friends and strangers alike.  Her smile could light up any room. Already she is deeply missed.

I fell in love with Jimmy in part because of the amazing relationship he had with his mother. She raised an amazing man -- a loving and dedicated husband and father and I will forever be grateful to her for that. Thank you Mama! Thank you for everything.

Our family is in the process of finalizing the funeral arrangements as it is our hope to carry her from Senegal  back to Liberia, where she,as a single young mother of 3 small children, fought relentlessly to flee
the country to safety in Cote d'Ivoire during the civil war. Though war forced her from the country of her birth, she remained hopeful that she would one day return.

Let's bring her home and give her the most amazing home-going fit for the Queen that she was.

Your contribution will help cover cost for the transportation from Senegal to Liberia and all funeral arrangements. Any additional fundswill be used
to help relocate her young daughter, Emma, and granddaughter,  Noemie, as well as her niece,
Beauty, who she adopted during the war to be closer to family. These young women were completely dependent on Mama and now find themselves alone in a country that is not their home. We hope they can come be here with us in the eventually as we can't bear to have them so far away.

Any amount will be greatly appreciated and will make a difference.

I ask that you keep the our family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Life is precious and so fragile. Each day that we have is truly a blessing.  Keep your loved ones close and focus on the joys of life. Sending love and light to you and yours during this holiday season.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, messages, calls, visits, and your contributions.  We will be forever thankful.
