Tashi Delek!
We are thrilled to announce our fifth European Tibetan Youth Platform* to take place from November 3-6, 2017, in Salenstein (near to Zurich) in Switzerland under the motto: WE ARE TIBET.

The European Tibetan Youth Platform (ETYP) is a unique forum designed to actively engage young Tibetans in the modeling of their own future society.

Our Main Goal

The ETYP provides an opportunity for young Tibetans to learn about their history and culture in a comfortable environment by bringing together the youth in order to learn, discuss with each other, and develop ideas and effective measures to advance the Tibetan movement and society. We encourage the youth to ask questions, talk over new topics, and form friendships beyond frontiers in an effort to build up a network and plan for our future leaders. The ETYP aims not only to inspire, but also to empower the Tibetan Youth by defining their position, appreciating their potentials, and strengthening the community.

Who We Are

The fifth ETYP is organized by the Tibetan Youth Association in Europe (TYAE). For over forty years, TYAE has offered a platform for young Tibetans where they can engage politically, culturally, and socially.

The TYAE seeks youth-orientated answers to all questions related to Tibet and works on many levels to strengthen political awareness and promote solidarity. The desire to provide a service to the community has always been, and still is, in the foreground.

History

On 9th April 2010, the Tibetan Youth Association in Europe (TYAE) successfully launched the first ETYP "WE ARE TIBET". The main goal is to strengthen the network within the Tibetan youth. It has been a great honor when His Holiness the Dalai Lama addressed the first gathering in person. In his speech, which was directed to the participants, His Holiness pointed out the great responsibility of the Tibetan youth in exile for the Tibetan movement. In addition to that, His Holiness also praised the convening of the first ETYP and called all the young Tibetans to build their own political opinion in the process of democratization.

Two years later, 120 participants from 9 different European countries gathered for the second ETYP “WE TAKE ACTION” in Einsiedeln. The third Youth Parliament themed
“WE ARE UNITED” took place in 2013 in Antwerp hosted by RTYC Belgium in collaboration with the TYAE. In line to the last motto, the fourth ETYP in Paris was organized by the three organizations RTYC Paris, SFT France & TYAE under the name "WE SHALL OVERCOME".

The fifth ETYP will be convened again under the motto “WE ARE TIBET” since the youth is the future and therefore the ETYP is a starting point for greater involvement of future leaders in the Tibetan community and movement.

If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact us: [email redacted]

*Since many Tibetan youngsters were deterred because of the name "parliament" it was changed to "platform".
