The Dance Outreach Club is a team of students at Mountain View High School who are passionate about dance. Most of our club members have been dedicated dancers for most of their lives and have firsthand experience with how dance can positively impact many aspects of their lives – from a sense of confidence and pride in oneself, to learned discipline that can carry over to success at school, to the shared interest that creates special memories and lasting friendships.
Our Club’s mission is to provide children with an opportunity to explore dance and to learn to love it as a form of art and personal expression. To this end, we are preparing to host our first Dance Outreach Camp, recognizing that dance programs can be expensive and therefore unaffordable to many families.
The Dance Outreach Camp that we have scheduled for June 11-15, 2018, is a FREE one-week dance program for Mountain View and East Palo Alto elementary school students. Campers will be taught ballet basics, jazz, and other performing art skills.
The funds we are raising will allow us to also provide admission to the Dance Outreach Camp for 28 children. And to make it easy for their parents and to ensure their children can attend all week, we also want to offer free transportation from select elementary schools, healthy lunches and snacks, and if needed, leotards and tights.
