EPPD's No Shave November
Several months ago Officers of the East Providence Police Department began participating in a weekly event known as “Goodnight lights”. The concept is simple, every Wednesday at 8:30pm officers line up across the Providence river and flash their lights at children who are at Hasbro Children’s Hospital as a way of saying “goodnight”.
Officers expressed interest in doing more to help children in need. Last year officers participated in “Mo’vember” growing out their mustaches and donating money to a local charity. This year a number of officers requested to grow full beards. When Chief Parella was approached about this idea he overwhelmingly supported it.
Officers have pledged to donate $75 to “Cops for kids with cancer” and in return Chief Parella has relaxed grooming standards for the month of November.
Now we are asking for backup from the public in helping to raise funds for this great cause. Any donation is helpful and is greatly appreciated. At the conclusion of the fundraiser I will withdraw the donations and combine them with cash raised in person by EPPD members. Members of the East Providence Police Department will present a check for the funds raised to Cops for kids with cancer.
As always we appreciate the support of our community and Chief Parella in allowing us to run this campaign.
