End Family Separation Now

Tax deductible
Dearest Community:

There is no doubt you have heard about the urgent human rights situation taking place at the Southwest border of the United States in which children of migrants seeking asylum are being separated from their parents and inhumanely housed in vacant buildings, detention centers, and very soon, tent cities erected on military bases. We are heartbroken by the images of our youngest and most vulnerable neighbors with tears in their eyes and surely no way to comprehend what is happening to them and their family. As a community of parents invested in creating radical networks of support for families and children, we extend our deep love and committed solidarity to the families currently experiencing this form of cultural and political violence.

What can be done? The steady stream of frightening news can certainly be overwhelming. It takes a clear intent to remain focused on participating in tangible action while also staying present for the feelings that come up when so much of our world appears to be upside down.

To care for your feelings, please reach out, connect, stay connected. There is a community of caring people here for you and excited to support your participation in transforming the world we live in! And to take on one form of action today, we invite you to make a donation in the name of Hey Baby – A Feminist Parenting Group to the Texas Civil Rights Project .

The Texas Civil Rights Group is currently on the frontline of care and support to separated families on the border. Your financial support helps ensure that they maintain the resources needed to persist. Please read below to learn more about their work. And thank you in advance for sharing your resources and building a long lasting, committed movement to protect families and relations everywhere.

In solidarity,
Hey Baby - A Feminist Parenting Group

Their Work: TCRP has long been recognized by our willingness to stand up for the underdog against the State of Texas and other powerful interests. Our track record of bold, creative litigation has also been recognized; for instance, in 2016, we made national headlines with our successful lawsuit against Texas for refusing to provide birth certificates to babies born in Texas to undocumented mothers. Finally, and just as important, we are uniquely homegrown and rooted in Texas. That means we are entirely focused on advancing equality and justice in our own backyard.

We are Texas lawyers for Texas communities, boldly serving the movement for equality and justice in and out of the courts. We use our tools of litigation and legal advocacy to protect and advance the civil rights of everyone in Texas and we partner with communities across the state to serve the rising movement for social justice. We undertake our work with a vision of a Texas in which all communities can thrive with dignity, justice and without fear.

TCRP’s program areas address some of the most pressing social justice problems in Texas — protecting voting rights, advancing racial and economic justice, and reforming our broken criminal justice system. Each program is led by an experienced director who works closely with our other talented attorneys and staff. In 2017, along side you, we fought back against mean-spirited and dangerous attacks against the most vulnerable Texans while pushing forward a progressive vision to transform our state.
