Looking to find a 10k run near you? It can be the perfect challenge to look forward to in 2023 – great for getting a personal best or even as a challenge for a novice runner. We’ve put together a list of 10k events to help you find a 10k, whether it’s pounding the pavements or a trail run. A 10k run is a brilliant way to raise money for a good cause too – you can start your GoFundMe here. We’ve got a handy guide on how to get into running and fundraise.

North East England

First up, we’ve got the 10ks near you schedule for North East England – including the Great North 10k.

Great North 10k

The Great North 10k is a fast run which takes racers along the River Tyne. It’s a race with a lot of support and a ‘party atmosphere’ – so you’ll be buoyed up the race round!

Sunderland City 10k

The Sunderland City 10k was first held back in 2011 with 1500 participants – and has grown ever since. It’s a fast, flat course perfect for setting personal bests and the event has several distances to choose from if you run and want a different challenge.

Run Northumberland Matfen 10k

The Matfen 10k loops around the scenic village of Matfen, Northumberland. It’s a road running course so on tarmac.

North West England

If you’re in the North West and looking for your next 10k charity challenge, we’ve got a list here for you to choose from. 

Great Manchester Run

The Great Manchester Run is a day of guaranteed fantastic atmosphere. The route takes you around the rainy city – and is at the same time as the half marathon, so if you enjoy there’s always a different challenge.

Blackpool Music Run

On the Blackpool Music Run, you’re encouraged to ‘embrace the music’ along the route which takes you on the promenade. There’s also a 5k fun run with this event, so one to do if you’ve got different levels of ability among family, friends or fellow runners.

Carlisle 10k

You can take in the city landmarks on the Carlisle 10k’s fast, flat course. The event starts and finishes at Brunton Park Football Stadium, the home of Carlisle United.

Yorkshire and the Humber

If you’re in Yorkshire and the Humber and hungry for a 10k, there’s plenty to choose from across the county here, too. 

Run for All Sheffield 10k

This 10k is set right at the centre of Steel City, incorporating the famous Sheffield hills – but don’t worry, it’s not too challenging. The course starts and finishes in the city centre.

Race for Life Hull 10k

There are plenty of uplifting Race for Life events around the country – and the Race for Life Hull 10k is no different. A guaranteed good atmosphere and a step up from the Race for Life 5k distances.

Bradford 10k

This is Epilepsy Action’s own 10k, so if you’re near Bradford and want an uplifting challenge for a good cause, this could be the one for you.

East Midlands

Never fear – if you’re ready to tie up your laces and pound the pavements in Leicester, we have a selection here for you too. 

Run for All Leicester 10k

The Run for All Leicester 10k takes racers through the city, including the beautiful greenery of Victoria Park. It’s also in January so not too far off if you’d like a wintery challenge.

Northampton 10k

The start and finish of the Northampton 10k are at the Sixfields Stadium, providing a unique chance to run there. The race begins there before heading onto the closed roads of Northampton.

West Midlands

If you’re looking to raise money for a good cause in the West Midlands, we’ve got some local runs here for you to browse too. 

Great Birmingham Run

The Great Birmingham Run takes racers on a city centre route past Birmingham’s landmarks. The website describes the course as having a “carnival atmosphere”, so runners can soak up that Brummie spirit.

Coventry 10k

The Coventry 10k consists of three laps of the War Memorial Park – and because of this, is a great course for anyone having their first go at a 10k or wanting to challenge themselves to getting a fast personal best.

Race for Life Walsall 10k

Race For Life is normally associated with 5ks – but they do have longer events as well. The Walsall 10k is a great step up if you want a different challenge.

East of England

Looking for a 10k near you if you’re in the East of England? We’ve got some options here for you. 

Holkham 10k

The Holkham 10k takes place in the grounds of the Holkham estate, following the internal roads in the area. It’s described as an ‘undulating road with climbs’ .

Cambridge Town & Gown 10k

This scenic 10k route takes you past many of Cambridge’s landmarks – along the river and past many of the iconic university buildings.

Race for Life Harlow 10k

The Race for Live Harlow 10k is a great charity run with the course mainly on paths in the park and a small bit of grass. If you’ve already done the Race for Life 5ks, this is a great new challenge.

London

And if you’re in the capital and looking for a 10k challenge, we’ve lined up some ideas here too. 

ASICS London 10k

There are live bands and DJs to motivate you on this fast, flat course. Racers run past The River Thames, Big Ben and Westminster Bridge on this course.

RunThrough Battersea Park 10k

This Battersea Park event is both a 5k and a 10k, meaning racers who want to try with friends or family of different ability can all have a day out. And it’s through one of the capital’s most iconic parks.

Vitality London 10k

The Vitality London 10k is a central London race, taking participants from the start line at Green Park right up to a Buckingham Palace finish – passing landmarks such as St Paul’s and through The City.

South East England

Here are our picks of the 10k runs taking place in South East England – from Brighton to Southampton.

Brighton BM10k

The Brighton BM 10k takes place on the same day as the Brighton Marathon and is suitable for everyone from beginners to fast runners.

MK Festival of Running

The MK Festival of Running is exactly that – a running event with multiple distance races over the weekend, including a 10k. The course is fast and flat and takes racers through the Milton Keynes countryside.

ABP Southampton 10k

The ABP Southampton 10k is a route encompassing waterside views and green spaces, making for a pleasant run for all.

Great Bristol Run

The Great Bristol Run takes place at the heart of the city, letting runners enjoy the city centre atmosphere as well as flex their athletic prowess.

Endurance Life North Cornwall 10k

If you want a scenic race, you can’t get more beautiful than the golden beaches of North Cornwall. The Endurance Life North Cornwall 10k starts at village Polzeath’s sands, before heading across the coastline.

Now heading further north to Scotland – there’s races to choose from whether you’re local or looking for a different challenge.

Great Scottish Run

The Great Scottish Run is another multi-distance event set over a weekend, including that perfect 10k challenge.

Scottish 10k

The Scottish 10k route starts and finishes just outside the beautiful and historic city of Edinburgh at Musselburgh race course. It’s flat and fast so a perfect challenge for first timers, experienced runners or those looking for a PB.

The Race For Life Aberdeen 10k is a great way to race in Aberdeen for a good cause – especially if you’ve already completed a 5k race for life and want the next challenge.

Wales

And now onto Wales, where we’ve put together some great races for you to browse. 

The Wales 10k

The Wales 10k takes place alongside the Wales Marathon, running along closed roads.

TEC Brecon Beacons Trail Running Challenge

The TEC Brecon Beacons Trail Running Challenge is as it says – a trail run through the woods. It’s a different challenge if you’re used to running on tarmac with slightly more challenging terrain.

Jones o Gymru Anglesey Half Marathon & 10km

The Jones o Gymru Anglesey 10km starts in a beautiful part of North Wales – the completely closed Menai suspension bridge. It’s a race run by beginners to seasoned professionals and everyone in between.

Northern Ireland

Run Forest Run Castlewellan

This Castlewellan race is part of the Run Forest Run series, with runners starting and finishing next to the lakeside castle.

Expleo Running Festival 10k

This 10k takes place in Belfast’s titanic quarter. The day has a 3k and a 5k race at the same time, so another brilliant one if you’re running as a family or a group of mixed ability. A day out for everyone.
