Two Special Needs Friends.  Two heros.

It was the evening of December 26th.  An F-4 tornado was tearing its way through Rowlett.  Two special needs young men and their two attednants, residing in a group home provided by Berry Family Services, was directly in its path.

Here's what one mom, Darla Andrews, posted about her son, Will, who survivied thanks to our two heros:

Will is ok!! His house he was staying in was hit by the Rowlett tornado. Bravo Berry Family Services!! The 2 Berry Family attendants got Will and his roommate into an interior room, piled on top of them, and kept them safe as the roof blew off and walls fell down around them. Once it passed, they managed to convince these two special needs men to climb out a master window they broke to climb to safety. No injuries!!! These amazing men kept our special needs loved ones safe while their own lives were at risk. Heroic!! Then an amazing team almost instantaneously got all of Will's needs met with food, clothing, bedding, meds. When I got there to see how he was, the nurse was there checking him over. He was rattled, but well!! Perfect in fact!!! He has no shoes, no Christmas stuff. None of it matters!!! Will is safe!! Will is alive!!! Thanks to Berry Family!! Thanks to these amazing men!! Thanks be to God!!!!

The two heros of this story are Demone and Nebo.  These two gentlemen were the attendants who protected two special needs young men as the walls fell around them.  After the tornado destoryed the home, Demone and Nebo carefully and skillfully helped our two special needs friends escape through a window and carried them on their backs a half mile to safety.

Funds are being raised to help Demone and Nebo replace their vehicles and other items like laptops, cell phones, wedding ring, etc... that were destroyed or lost in the storm.  Insurance will not cover replacement of these items so we want to help them continue to be able to work and provide for their families.

Both Demone and Nebo selflessly protected our two special needs friends and we are happy to respond generously.  We're thankful for their selfless courage that allowed our two special needs friends ride out the storm without a scratch.
