This Go Fund Me account has been created for The Lake City Environmental Learning Program based out of Lake City, Minnesota. We are a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for our area youth to experience and enjoy nature through first hand experiences. We take kids hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, and spelunking; just to name a few of the many classes we offer.
In order to offer the majority of these programs, we need a mode of transportation. We have been using a 15 passenger van for the last 10+ years and, like most things in life, time and use takes its toll. This van is used daily during the summer months and most weekends in the off-season.
The van's condition has been deteriorating. We have a few duct-taped windows, a broken air conditioner, and seats that have experienced some major wear and tear. Aside from this, our largest concern is the safety in getting our children from one destination to another. The engine and brakes are noticeably aging as well.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 by May 1st, 2017 so that we can purchase a new van in time for our busy summer months.
This program was created by individuals who have a passion for the outdoors and who recognize the importance of passing this care on to our youth. In a world that is becoming more and more digitally driven and removed from nature, encouraging our children to engage in and care for the natural world becomes even more crucial. Without a means of transportation, our ability to provide these important experiences significantly diminishes.
We are so grateful for any donation you are willing to give. Our program is run completely off of donations from various organizations in the area. We are so lucky to have a community that values getting our youth out of doors. It really is a team effort to keep this program going. We ask that you join this team by contributing whatever you can to ensure the continuation and safety of our program. Thank you so very much.
