Elephant Conservation in Laos
Donation protected
This summer (July 2019) I am flying to Laos, South East Asia with Vesabroad, to stay in a remote elephant sanctuary and volunteer in a local school, where I will restore classrooms and teach English to young children. An introduction to English for these children will be amazing for them and give them a better chance to escape the poverty trap. 1.4 million (23%) Laos people are still living at or below the poverty line.
Sadly, there are only 2 elephants born for every 10 that die and the elephant population in Laos is decreasing rapidly. Half of the elephant population are still domesticated. Often these elephants grow up in isolation and are deprived of the socialisation that they would normally get from their herd in the wild. This can lead to abnormal behaviour, sometimes self-destructive.
I love volunteering and want to help the children and elephants in Laos.
You can help too! Any donations would be appreciated so much, no matter how small!
Thank you,
Emily
