Elect Ellen O'Doherty to Dublin City Council

Who I am:

I'm Ellen O’Doherty and I'm a Social Democrat Local Area Rep for Dublin North Inner City. I'm originally from Tralee in Kerry, but I have been living in Dublin for 10 years, and have made my home in the North Inner City since 2018.

I am a public servant, a renter and I have worked with both regional and National Community groups like the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, HIV Ireland, Dublin & Kerry Pride, Together4Yes and Stoneybatter Pride of Place.

I'm running for the Local Elections in 2024 as I believe now, more than ever we need passionate, people-focused and progressive voices on Dublin's City Council to represent our communities' interests.

Why I'm running for election to Dublin City Council:

Dublin would not be what it is today without the North Inner City. The people, culture and communities are the lifeblood of Dublin, and and I am passionate about amplifying the voices and addressing the concerns of our community.

I want to be part of the solution in improving the quality of life for all residents of Dublin's North Inner City.

My priorities if elected to Dublin City Council:

  • A prioritisation of physical amenities including the provision and maintenance of additional street lights, bins and zebra crossings.

  • A halt to dereliction and the hoarding of vacant properties in our city where too many people live without safe, affordable and secure housing options.

  • Accessible and affordable primary care services including youth mental health and addiction supports.

  • Investment in cycling infrastructure to further empower and protect residents who cycle, and encourage those who wish to start.

  • Expansion of services for older people including renovation grants and day services.

  • Investment in and expansion of vital sports and community facilities in the North Inner City, such as Alfie Byrne Park, Sean McDermott Street Pool and the Ballybough Community, Youth & Fitness Centre.

  • Expansion of adult education resources and community services in city center libraries.

Why I need your help:

In order to be elected to represent Dublin's North Inner City I need to bring my message of passionate, people-focused and progressive politics to as many voters as possible. That's not something I can do alone, so I need your help.

Running a local election campaign costs money, and unlike traditional political parties I do not have access to substantial election campaign funds.

• €20 will buy adverts on social media to reach people who may not be registered to vote
• €50 will buy 5 election posters printed on environmentally- friendly materials
• €100 will help me buy 2,000 leaflets environmentally- friendly materials
