Elderly Womans Life Savings Stolen

    On Friday November 3rd 2017 my mothers life was forever changed. She came home from work like she does every day. Working 12 long hours, five days a week to pay her bills and save for retirement. Upon her arrival home that evening, the back door was ajar and she instantly feared the worst.  When she went inside she noticed clothing on the floor that was once in her drawers, and a basket flipped over. Nothing appeared missing upon first look. She noticed all electronics were safe and sound exactly where she had left them, and the safe door was still secured and locked. She decided  to go check the safe regardless if the door was locked because they had to have broken in for something. When she unlocked and opened the door to the safe, her entire life savings of almost $100,000 in cash, as well as gold bars and coins worth almost $10,000 were gone. 
   My mother is a hard worker, and has been her entire life. Her and her late husband, a Navy veteran, prepared for her future by saving for years so she would be finacially secure. Her husband was older and had health issues and sadly died in April of this year. She also lost her dog that was 15 years old to cancer a few short weeks ago. Shes had multiple medical issues including major heart surgery, and recently found out she has COPD. All of this in under a year. Then she loses the one thing left in her life that could enable her to retire in spring as she had planned.
   The safe was lag bolted to the floor it weighs about half as much as a car and the size of an apartment sized refigerator.  It can only be accessed using a key or combination. Police are still investigating to try and figure how this person gained entry into the safe. We are equally as baffled. We believe given how this was all done that it was someone close to her. Not a random act. Someone that watched and waited and knew her routines which gave them time to plan such a heinous crime. Only a tiny few were aware the safe even existed, which is another red flag this was done by someone we know,  which leaves a very small list of suspects.
  I cant describe to you the sound of despare and shock in her voice as I was on the phone with her and she discovered her entire life had been stolen from her. Everything she worked so hard for to tuck away so she wouldnt have to work the rest of her life.
  This fundraiser is to help give her back what was so wrongfully taken by a cold hearted coward! To ask the community local and far to come together to help a woman in her time of need. I thank all of you who have read this, as well as those who are so kind, generous, and able,  to donate to a woman you may have never met in her most desperate times.
 
  I wrote a post on Fb the day after she was robbed in hopes it would get someone to come forward. Sadly so far it hasnt, however it gained the attention of  the local news, who did meet with us Sunday.
