Ekta's Mission Trip Pledge
For my 25th birthday, I want to ask all my friends and family for one thing: nothing. What I want is for any contribution that you would have put towards my birthday to go towards charity. For my birthday, I pledge to raise$1250 for a mission trip that I will be participating in shortly after I turn 25 years old on January 13, 2017.
I will be serving with The Outreach for World Hope , a non-profit organization, whose mission is to improve the quality of life of the world’s poor by providing humanitarian aid, hope, and compassion. The team will be serving from January 26-31st 2017 in the Chiquimula region of eastern Guatemala, known as “The Dry Corridor.” This region is in chronic shortage of rainfall leading to devastating droughts and famine that result in alarmingly high child mortality rates due to end stage starvation.
During this mission trip, we will be volunteering to:
- Identify severely malnourished children to provide nutritional rehabilitation
- Provide medical care to populations living in isolated mountain villages
- Distribute basic life necessities: food, stove tops, clothing, shoes, toys, and medical supplies
- Empower local community residents through education and provide self-sustainable tools to pave the pathway out of poverty
Thank you so much for taking the time to support my passion to volunteer!
Please visit Outreach for World Hope to learn more about the mission trip.
Additionally, some of you may already know of my dream to adopt a child one day when I am blessed to do so. In the meantime, a portion of this donation will go towards helping me sponsor my first child through the Life Boat program! This program is a lifeline for children found in end stage starvation, but not yet selected by sponsors. This sponsorship will allow us to provide monthly food supplies to ensure my first sponsored child never goes hungry again!
I will continue to raise money until my 25th birthday, exactly 30 days from today! I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you.
Thank you so much kind souls!
