Hello Everyone!

WHO WE ARE:

We are Eisenhower Cooperative Deaf and hard of hearing program (prek through 8th grade), located in Crestwood, IL. We are a program made of students who are Deaf or hard of hearing from the surrounding communities, such as Harvey, Posen, Robbins, Alsip, Burbank, Midlothian, and more.

WHAT WE BELIEVE:

Every child can learn.
Every child is a valuable resource.
In meeting the needs of all children.
All students must be treated with dignity and respect.
In developing independent and life-long learners.
In fostering the acceptance of diversity.
In a safe, secure, supportive learning environment.
In collaborative teamwork including all students, families, staff, community, and agencies.
In responsibly utilizing all resources within and outside the organization.
All students should have access to a curriculum aligned to state standards.
In fostering students' self-esteem.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

Our program is a team of Deaf Educators, Parents, Families, Audiologists, Speech Pathologists, Therapists, and resources within the community to meet the needs of all our students. We need your help to be successful! We frequently use donated money to provide opportunities that our students might not have access to daily. For example, much of our money collected is spent on fieldtrips out in the community. In the past we have scheduled movies at the theater to be closed captioned--- We even invite other Deaf schools in the area to join in on the opportunity! This is a luxury that is not as readily available in many communities. We also use any money collected to purchase technology that will assist in everyday learning in our classrooms. For example, a new television for the program videophone (a videophone is a device that allows Deaf people to make phone calls via a camera and using American Sign Language). Having up-to-date technology ensures our students learn to communicate independently with friends, family, and society. We frequently bring in successful Deaf presenters to expose the children to Deaf culture. In addition, a portion of the money collected goes towards meeting the most basic needs of our students including; Kleenex, cleaning products, school uniforms, school supplies, etc.

HOW TO HELP?

We will be hosting our 4rd annual Walk-a-Thon on September 26th. Our Walk-a-Thon is an exciting way to kick-off our school year. Staff, students, families, and former students gather together and walk to support each other’s success! We are collecting donations to support our program and contribute to another successful school year.  Any donation is greatly appreciated and every little bit helps!

Thank you in advance for all your support and positive vibes sent our way this school year!

Sincerely,

The staff, students and families of Eisenhower          Cooperative’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program
