Support the Shuang Wen School Dance Collective in the New York City Dance Parade.
For the past 5 years Shuang Wen school math teacher Kevin Yuhas has been teaching an after-school dance class with a focus on the elements of the original hip-hop styles, many of which were created here in New York City.
Last year his students, “The Flavor Crew”, performed on the Family Stage at Dancefest in Tompkins Square Park. The students of The Shuang Wen School (PS 184M) had a great time participating in and witnessing the spectacle of the largest single-day dance event on the planet. The experience provided the students an opportunity to express themselves through the language of movement and opened their eyes to the incredible diversity of dance across cultures, as well as the collective spirit that is at the heart of The Dance Parade.
Please help support us in our efforts to expand on last years success. Our ultimate goal is to have our own float in this years parade, however even if we do not reach that goal donations will be used to cover the expense of a small mobile sound system and purchase crew
t-shirts and hats. Your donation will enable the students of The Shuang Wen School (P.S. 184M) the experience of a lifetime. Here's a diagram of our float before it's decorated:
