Earthquake Relief Fund - Babahoyo

On April 16th at approximately 7:00 pm Ecuador was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that shook them to the core. It was the strongest earthquake they've experienced in decades! Many people in towns and cities such as Portoviejo, Manta, Pedernales, Babahoyo, and Guayaquil (and many others) have been affected and suffered great loss. In an effort to help ease their growing burden, please consider making a contribution to our fund which will go directly to Iglesia Cuadranuglar-Unidos en Cristo (a church my grandmother, Norma Toalombo, attends and  acivitely volunteers with) and used to purchase items that will be distributed among families that have lost their homes, businesses, and all of their possesions. All funds that are raised will be wired directly to Babahoyo (capital of the province Los Rios) and recieved by Pastor Yamil Carabali Segura. These funds will go to purchasing much needed items such as: diapers, powdered milk, baby food, canned goods, rice, nurtitonal bars and snacks, batteries, flashlights, sunscreen, blankets, utensils, bars of soap, garbage bags, mattresses, sleeping bags, sheets, first aid kits, water and vital medicine. 

About Me: 
My name is Heidi Idrovo and I am from Bronx, New York and I am the proud daughter of two Ecuadorian immigrants, Nuvia and Jorge Idrovo.  I am the Development Associate for a small nonprofit, The Oliver Scholars Program , which puts me in the unique position to understand the ins-and-outs of fundraising and how important it is to give back. 

Although my life is here in New York, my entire extended family is in Ecuador. While my family is okay and accounted for, I have received devestating news about those around them and all of the hardships they are facing and the many more that they will ultimately have to face. Together we can bring some relief to a country and its people in need!
