East Bluff Community Center
The center provides rooms and resourses for several community organizations and residents including a food pantry and classrooms for the Boys & Girls Club.
The center has initiated a fundraising campaign with the goal of enough donations from businesses, organizations and individuals to support its daily operation for the next 5 to 10 years. The center is currently staffed and supported by volunteers with oversight by its board of directors.
For information about contributing to the center please call Jim Combs at 839-0781.
The East Bluff Community Center is so important to the East Bluff. The EBCC is making a sincere effort to raise the funds necessary to keep going. It has no paid staff or board members and is run by volunteers, but we have to keep the lights on! As many of you know the food pantry is my passion, but without the EBCC, there would be no food pantry. EBCC is now the home of WAZU 90.7FM. The radio station moved in after Illinois Central College could no longer provide space for them. In addition, the center serves as the home of Turning Point (a recovery program), provides space for community education such as Coffee With the Cops (or this month, code enforcement) & a session of Money Smart Week. Individuals and groups can rent space for meetings or other gatherings. Many children will receive breakfast & lunch this summer through the Boys & Girls Club even if they are not part of their program. The "Y" will facilitate the Rebound Basketball program again this summer. The center now provides the funds for printing the East Bluff News newsletter. There are more things in the planning, but few programs are free!
I have the honor of being an East Bluff Community Center board member and I humbly ask for your support. Please take a few moments to learn about this great organization and why I am passionate that we keep our doors open.
