Earth Rangers as Ocean Heroes

Tax deductible
Wow, we had a GREAT time and it's thanks to many of you. Danny, Kevin, and Brian will be in 6th grade this year and Rosa in 10th grade. We're looking forward to working with them sharing and using what they learned at the Ocean Heroes Bootcamp to make some lasting changes where we live. It was quite an adventure. About 300 youth attended this event, young people from 20 countries and 35 states. What an amazing experience to see and meet some young people who have already made major differences in their home areas concerning plastics. You can see a "recap" at http://oceanheroes.blue .
Here's our group as we finally arrived at the University of British Columbia where the Ocean Heroes Bootcamp took place.
We got in early so we went down about 500 steps (yes, really!) to check out the beach.
Some sessions were held at the Vancouver Aquarium. The young man in the red shirt was our boys' squad leader--he's from Hawaii.
Some 'famous' (in the getting rid of plastics movement) young people were there: Melati , Lilly,  Carter and so many others. Our team has already asked about going next year. We don't know yet. It's going to depend largely on where and when it'll be held. New York schools get out so late.

Between this GoFundMe page and the sale of our stainless steel straws, we really did raise most of the money needed to cover our airfare. We're about $600 short. Maybe you can still help--and ask your friends and family as well. And we still have more straws to sell!

Thank you!

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money for Starflower Experiences' 5th grade Earth Rangers, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

This awesome group of 10 & 11 year olds have already held two No Straw Challenges at their elementary school. They spoke to the school district's Wellness Committee and consequently plastic straws were no longer given out in the cafeteria. They visited two local restaurants to ask them to stop handing out plastic straws and they continue to pour their hearts into making a difference.

Three of these Earth Rangers (and one in high school) have applied to attend the  Ocean Heroes Bootcamp in Vancouver at the end of June. The event is free, but we will need to cover transportation for 2 or 3 of these youngsters (and one or two chaperones).  This would be an amazing adventure to meet other youth from all over the world working to reduce plastics and bring home ideas and skills to use in their own communities. The kids are SO excited about going! Please help us make this happen.
