Starting off I would like you to thank you for taking the time out of your day to ever think about reading this, it means the world to me. My name is Jonathan, I live with my father and I am 19 years of age. I have never done anything like this, and I am extremely nervous about doing this so please bare with me. My father was against me doing this but I just feel so helpless and I have seen these work for some people so here is my shot at it~
So to begin I would like to give a back story as to how my situation came about, about two and a half-three years ago my grandfather passed from cancer. And around the same time or shortly after my father became insanely ill with rheumatoid arthritis, an extremely hard hitting and potentially crippling form of arthritis. Thus forcing him to take leave off of work and go on disability. At this time my entire family decided that it would be a good idea for us all to live together. We did so to make sure my grandmother was alright and just as a coping mechanism for our family. So we did that and everything was fine until we noticed how much it costed to keep 6 people in the same household for around two years. After the two or so years the parents and my grandmother decided we should all go our separate ways.
From my point of view everything was fine, but my father at the time had been heavily medicated to try and suppress the pain from the arthritis which for the time being has gotten a lot better. But the medication was causing him many issues such as memory loss, foggy like mind, and causing him to almost like act without thinking in a way? And with disability insurance they continue paying you unless you go back to work, but they also call frequently to ask you if you are getting better and if you feel like you can go back to working (so they can stop paying you.) Everything was fine until my father (still on the medication) decided that going back to work would be a good idea. It turns out that it was not and they cut him off because as I stated previously going back to work = no more pay. He had to stop working because he stopped taking the medication that made his head foggy and unclear. And those mostly were pain medication. He started working and literally would come home and not be able to walk.
Thus bringing us here. I know what you are thinking, Jon you are 19 how are you not helping him here? I am currently enrolled in a online high school because two years ago I had an amazing opportunity to travel the world for competitive gaming and when I had got the chance it was right after my grandfather passed and I was in a horrible place mentally and my father and grandmother knew it and allowed me to take my senior year off and go on this journey. Since that I had gotten on a competitive team and was making my own money. I had done that for two years but after failing to make it into the professional league the team decided to remove me. I am currently writing this and printing my resume so I can hopefully get a job to assist my father as well.
The reason I am asking for $6500 is so that I can pay the rent for a few months while my father tries to pay the bills he is behind on such as his car payment etc... He has been waiting for months now to get an insurance claim payment that will make everything better but insurance places enjoy taking their sweet time to review cases and pay people out. From the start of him getting sick this insurance places forgot that he had bought coverage from them and when he first got sick he called and said he had coverage from them and they told him no. Later on they called him and said oh wait, you have been paying us for coverage for years now.
Reaching this goal would mean us not having to move out of our current housing situation as we are two months behind already. Thankfully we can not be thrown out in the winter but nonetheless.My father was to prideful to ask for assistance but it is a different time now and people help people all the time so I am here asking for it. TLDR: I just want some pressure taken off my father. Even though he tries to act like it is not bothering him and such, as his son I know it is. How could it not, I have already given him everything I saved up. And he hates asking for help, he always has. I just want to help my father because he deserves it. I really do not want to see my father have to go bankrupt, he has always been the hardest working man I've known. Thank you, even if you do not donate.
