Duncan couple can't find rental

After 38 years together they’ve been told they only have weeks left together, due to the husband’s terminal illness and all they want is a warm, safe place to spend his final days in.
“He’s my best friend,” says Lin Hanley in tears. “Together 38 years and when I lose him I have nobody. I have him, my two cats and that’s all I have in the world.”
69-year-old Hanley spends her days taking care of her 71-year-old husband who has terminal cancer and has been told he has only weeks to live. The rest of the time she’s looking online for a safe, warm place to rent so that they can spend their final days together in comfort.
“It’s hell for me. It’s pure hell. I want to get him to a decent place,” says Hanley.
The tiny 400 square foot caretaker’s cabin they’ve been living in is warmed only by a space heater and has no room for the hospital bed George badly needs. But finding a 2 bedroom apartment for rent under $1100, is proving impossible in this tight rental market even though they are looking from Duncan to Nanaimo.
