Duncan couple can't find rental
“He’s my best friend,” says Lin Hanley in tears. “Together 38 years and when I lose him I have nobody. I have him, my two cats and that’s all I have in the world.”
69-year-old Hanley spends her days taking care of her 71-year-old husband who has terminal cancer and has been told he has only weeks to live. The rest of the time she’s looking online for a safe, warm place to rent so that they can spend their final days together in comfort.
“It’s hell for me. It’s pure hell. I want to get him to a decent place,” says Hanley.
The tiny 400 square foot caretaker’s cabin they’ve been living in is warmed only by a space heater and has no room for the hospital bed George badly needs. But finding a 2 bedroom apartment for rent under $1100, is proving impossible in this tight rental market even though they are looking from Duncan to Nanaimo.
As seen on Chek news. Please help them. They should not be spending their precious time like this!
A good friend of mine in Duncan just said Rowen properties has a house right down town for 875.00 ish go light fire under their butts. We need to get this no pet crap kicked to the curb it's killin us all. Pets are family no need to raise rent just cause of that . Bless your soul's and remember keep fighting you both look so strong!
This is so generous of everyone, I think the goal should be much more than their set goal. She will have to live without her husband and any income he gets for the rest of her life. I so wish I could help!
Yvonne- I believe people have stepped up to offer housing. I am not sure exactly what's happening there....Chek is in contact with them about it.
Will someone be helping them move?
I hope this allows you to share your love with one another instead of stressing about your living situation. Best of luck! ♥
