Douglas needs surgery

Douglas has always been a happy energetic boy! He loves chasing squirrels at grandma's and he loves his friends at daycare, unfortunately he played too ruff and hurt his little doggy neck. He is currently under pain meds and resting as much as possible right now. He may need surgery which will cost around $6k, if not surgery then a lot medication and dr visits and a dull life of lounging around for awhile (which will be around $3k). Either way, this is a lot of money to take on by myself but he deserves the best. For those who don't know, Doug is my registered emotional support dog because I have depression. He has been my best friend for over four years. He has helped me tremendously throughout the last few years and I can't see him in pain like this. If you have met Doug, you know what a special little guy he is.
Please help our family anyway you can, we greatly appreciate it!

Douglas came home earlier today. He seems much better, not crying as much when we pick him up to go downstairs for potty breaks. During surgery, they took out extra material that was inside a vertebrae from a ruptured disk. He will be on doggy bed rest again for awhile but the vet is hopeful he will recover fully and quickly with meds and massage. I'm so happy he is here but it is still emotional seeing him this way especially with the many staples along his neck and shaved patches of fur.
Again, I want to thank everyone for their support. It's been a tough month but I feel so much better with everyone checking in on us and sending love.

Doug finally came off all medications but wasn't doing well at all. He cried almost daily and all last night. He was having a hard time moving and getting comfortable, he got sores on his legs from getting up to move positions or going potty. We brought him back into the vet to have emergency surgery. Turns out he had a ruptured disk. He will be coming home Thursday or Friday. Hoping to get donations to help us, until Thursday I'll have to apply for multiple credits.

Doug is finally home! Monday night we took him into our regular vet where they did xrays and gave him an injection of pain killers. They found he has a narrow space between a vertebrae which is causing cartilage to push up, putting pressure on his spinal cord. We then took him to an emergency vet so he can stay over night and be given pain killers. Tuesday morning, we transferred him to a specialty clinic so we could figure out what kind of treatment he needs. He stayed over night and they gave him pain killers and steroids. He was responding vet well to the steroids so he was able to come home without surgery. For the next month he will be on doggy bed rest, pain killers and steroids. He is still in so much pain but not nearly as much as he was a few days ago.
With doctor visits and pain meds, our bill went down to 2k instead of 6k. (For now, assuming he is continuing to get better and will fully heal)
