'TV Network at it Again'

Enough is enough. I had no idea what corporations and their 'leaders' are capable of but after seeing my Dad, during some Doctor directed sick leave and since, be constantly intimidated, bullied and shafted within a company he has dedicated 35 years to is just not on. He needs mine and your support to ensure he receives his statutory entitlements, which are capped,  if not the respect he deserves.

He's already spent a small fortune on legal, just to try to communicate with a company that has roadblocked him every step of the way, and requires more to ensure he gets simply what he is due so that he has a small fund while he looks for work. While he will continue to work, at 57, he is unlikely to get another full time job.

My Dad has worked for xxxxx Network Sydney for 35 years. The last 12 years as Chief Cameraman, overseeing a team of up to 35 and the camera/production/vehicle assets of the company and much, much more. This role, with its immediate international and disaster response requirements meant being available 24/7, working while at home, evenings, sometimes all night and every weekend. The chief role was 24/7 every single one of those 12 years, whether we were on holidays anywhere in the world,  or from his sick bed. He loves, loves his job and his team.

But the job and the toxic and dysfunctional management took its toll, last July he needed some downtime to decompress, which he did when his 2 Doctor's put him on extended sick leave. During this time he was receiving emails with what I can only assume were designed to intimidate and bully him. That' is how Mum and I read them.

When he was cleared to return to work, they wouldn't give him his job back, they put him in an inappropriate junior role and despite advising their 'intention' to make his role redundant they refuse to make him redundant and pay his entitlements and tell him that this junior role is the same level and their attitude is, bad luck.

He is also happy, despite the treatment, to simply go back to his role but they refuse.

He has an email from his boss to another executive that said he had to get rid of Dad to reform the department, also saying that if he goes, the other older cameraman are likely to follow (such a respected leader Dad is).

It is so frustrating that to activate a company to do the right thing you have to spend a fortune doing it. They know this, hence their behaviour to 'starve' someone who has dedicated their career to them. Obviously this is illegal and of course beyond unethical.

This junior role is very physically demanding and the weekly hours generally add up to about 55-60hrs physical hours - he is 57 years of age - my concern is that he could seriously injure himself.

The job requires heavy lifting and long hours so  potentially on the road after very long days - up to 16-18hrs then expected to drive home which in some cases can be 4-6hrs.

Now it looks like he is going to have activate a lawsuit for his entitlements. I'm sure many people have been through this but it is my intention that when this goes to court, everything will become public, their communications, the statements, everything. All of which are damning of the company, the purpose of which is to highlight the unfairness of the system and lobby for a more fair process with real protections.

Please help me ensure they just don't get away with this. My Dad and everyone else going through this deserve so much more.
