#PeriodProject

Hello, my name is Lisa and after watching this years Oscar-Winning Netflix Documentary, "Period. End of Sentence" I was inspired and that is how this project all began.

I believe every girl deserves an education, yet millions of girls around the world miss school during their periods because they can't afford pads.

Did you know 1 in 4 girls in India drops out of school once she reaches puberty??!!

In 2017, I had the opportunity to visit, 3 All Girl schools in Vrindavan, India. At that time, I was unaware of the hardships women experience in India during menstruation. However, now that I am
aware of what is going on, I am determined to make a change!

That being said, I teamed up with Days for Girls, an organization that provides a safe, beautiful, washable, and long-lasting alternative reusable pad, along with teaching vital health education to girls.
Right now, around the world, girls and women resort to using rags, mattress stuffing, banana leaves,  feathers, and even cow dung to
manage their menstruation.

The Days for Girls Kits don't look like traditional pads and there's a reason for that. The bright colors camouflage staining. The absorbent liners unfold to look like a washcloth, which allows women to wash and dry them outside in the sun without causing embarrassment. All of these design choices add up to a lasting, easy-to-care-for
solution.
Each kit costs, on average, $10 to make.
The kit includes:
2 Days for Girls Shields
8 Days for Girls Liners
2 panties
1 small soap
1 washcloth
1 menstrual chart & pictorial instruction
2 gallon-size freezer bags
1 Days for Girls Drawstring Bag

My goal is to bring 750 Days for Girls kits to Vrindavan ,India and distribute to all the students/teachers at Food For Life Vrindavan (FFLV.)

Many of you have reached out to me wondering how you can help out and be apart of this journey. ( I appreciate you, thank you all so much)
There are endless ways to get involved but right now my priority is getting these kits to the girls in Vrindaven, and helping them understand their bodies as they go through puberty with confidence. I decided to start this gofundme page to raise money to collect all 705 kits, transport them to Vrindavan and distribute them to every female at the school, both students and teachers.

If we exceed our goal, I will be using the extra money for bars of soap and surprising the girls with hair accessories, school supplies, etc.
