DIEU'S MISSION STATEMENT
----------------------------------------

Dear friends, family, and good samaritans,

I am excited to announce that I will be spending 4 weeks in Nepal to help rebuild homes that were destroyed from the deadly earthquake that killed more than 9,000 lives and injured over 21,000 people on April 25, 2015. With pharmacy school on hold until January, I am using this time off wisely to enrich my soul and do something that can help others. I am suuuuuper nervous but incredibly thrilled for this opportunity of a lifetime!

One of my greatest passions in life is to help impoverished countries abroad. It has driven me to volunteer in underserved villages of Costa Rica, Ghana, and Panama in previous years, and I would like to continue this journey by helping in Langtang. It is a Himalayan valley in Nepal that requires a 10 hour bus ride and 2 to 3 days of trekking to reach. Being so geographically remote, it is incredibly difficult and expensive to bring in materials for reconstruction, which can only be brought in by helicopter, donkey, or hiked in by manpower. Unfortunately, Langtang does not receive much help from the government or relief organizations, which primarily focus on aiding more densely populated areas of disaster.

During my time in Langtang, I will help build an orphanage for the 32 children who had lost both parents from the earthquake. In addition to rebuilding homes from the ground up, I will help remove stone and rubble from the landslide. I will be working alongside Demo Orphan Home Construction under Om Nepal and Samaritan NGO.

It would mean the world to me if you could make a donation. The great majority of the donations will go to Langtang Management and Reconstruction Committee, where they will distribute funds for raw materials used in building homes and the heavy cost of transportation. Additionally, it will cover some of my volunteer related expenses from hiring a trek guide and porter to lodging, in which will help stimulate the local economy.

Every donation made, no matter what the amount is, will help bring the 116 Langtang families that much closer to getting out of tents and into proper homes. Your generosity would mean the world to me! I hope to have your support!

MESSAGE FROM CHRIS NGUYEN
---------------------------------------------

Hi friends and family! I am creating this campaign for my dear friend Dieu in her attempts to continue to make a positive change in the world.  She has volunteered in numerous countries throughout the world during school breaks, but this time she has set her goals even higher and would like to stay in Nepal for over a month to help build an orphanage and clear debris from the earthquake that hit Nepal.  Her selflessness knows no bounds and no one more pure of heart that I know of.

She will be in Nepal assisting in building an orphanage from late October until late November. Any donation would go into helping her cover some of her volunteer related expenses,  while a majority will go toward resources and supplies to start and support the orphanage and village homes in Langtang Valley. Take a moment and think of how much a simple donation could impact the life of another.

I am a firm believer that one gains a sense of genuine happiness when you are able to affect the life of another in a positive light.  Dieu definitely provides that as she embarks on another journey--this time to change the lives of Nepalese children and families.

Best Regards,
Chris Nguyen
