Stage Call Booster Support

Stage Call is the drama club at Galesburg High School in Galesburg, Illinois.  For decades, this group has fostered a love of theatre in generations of young people.  Some of us have gone on to our own careers in theatre -- forging careers on stage, on screen, or behind the scenes.  Others of us have gone on to teach our own theatre students.  And others have built careers outside the theatre world but have benefitted from the training we received on the stage of GHS.  

Due to recent budget cuts in the Galesburg school district, the school board recently voted to eliminate the stipend position which pays the Stage Call adviser.  While this cut will not stand in the way of productions, it does put an end to Stage Call's extracurricular endeavors such as talent night and the annual trip to the Illinois Theatre Festival in Bloomington.  For many students, these activities are just as enriching and vital as the productions.  

In addition, following massive flooding under the stage last summer, Stage Call is being forced to buy/rent its own storage pods for props, costumes, and set pieces, taking roughly $3000 from its annual ticket sales to pay for storage that previously was free.  Few shows in this area of the state generate $3000 in profits, so this storage charge could put an end to future productions since ticket sales pay for the next show's royalties, scripts, set, et cetera.

We are a group of Stage Call alums from across the generations -- Uncle Larry's kids, Betsy's kids, W-B's kids, Mrs. Heck's kids, Mrs. Dillard's kids -- who know that Stage Call shaped not just our high school careers but our lives, and we want to give back to help make sure that future generations get the same experiences and opportunities we did.
