Let's lift up the memory of Derek Keeling by creating a lasting gift to his alma mater and his family. 

As mentioned in his obituary, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Musical Theatre Department at the University of Kentucky Scholarship Fund in Derek's name.

If these donations reach $25,000 it will create an award in perpetuity for the theatre and dance department at The University of Kentucky, in which a deserving musical theatre student will be given the award each year.  If the donations reach $50,000 it will create a yearly scholarship in perpetuity.  Derek's family will be told each year of the student receiving this award (or scholarship.)

For those of us lucky enough to have studied and worked in the arts, I can think of no better way to honor Derek's memory.  He loved theatre and music and filled his life with both.

And for those of us lucky enough to have known Derek, we can only imagine how big his smile would be to know that his life's work could assist a future artist in attaining their dreams.
