Dental Mission Trip to Ghana

My name is Christina and I am a Registered Dental Hygienist. I graduated from Texas Woman's University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dental Hygiene. I have been working in private practice since I graduated with the Dental Depot in Highland Village.  Every year I do what I can to volunteer and donate my time back. I help coordinate and volunteer at events called Dentistry from the Heart and Give Kids a Smile. These events are days where my office opens the door for a free day of dentistry for people in need. I have a huge passion for working with people that need help and I have wanted to go on a dental mission trip since I graduated dental hygiene school. This year is the year I will be able to go and do what I am passionate about. Although I volunteer here in my own country, it has been a dream of mine to go to a different country to make difference. This is an opportunity that will take me out of my comfort zone and open my eyes to how blessed I am to live where I do and enjoy the luxuries I have that others do not. I will be traveling with H3 (Healing Hearts and Hands, a non-religious affiliated group) to Ghana, a country in West Africa. We will be working in villages outside of Accra (the capital) and Cape Coast. We have a team of dental and medical professionals participating. As a team, the goal is not to set or break any records regarding the number of patients we see, but to change as many lives as we can forever. We are not out to change Ghana. We are there to help and share the skills we have. I have heard I will receive a peace and sense of satisfaction in my life that no one can explain; it is something that I want to experience. The donations received will help with travel expenses and supplies needed to take care of the people in the small towns and gvillages we will be working in. My trip will be May 22, 2017- June 2, 2017. I am trying to reach my goal by May 1, 2017. Any and all dontations will be greatly appreciated!
