UNITE: A FATHERS FIGHT

On January 18, 2016 our dad, Dennis Gagnon, went in for surgery to have his bladder removed due to a cancerous tumor that was identified late in 2015. During the operation the doctor unexpectedly found the tumor had spread significantly.  The cancer was no longer contained within his bladder but was now in his pelvic muscle, lymph nodes and could not be removed. Additional testing confirmed that he has stage four bladder cancer which has also spread to his spine.   As you can imagine our family was/is devastated and shocked by this life changing news. Our dad has been undergoing Chemotherapy treatments in an attempt to prevent the cancer from spreading further. We are also looking into trials and alternative treatment options that are not covered by insurance and hopefully extend his life.

Fathers are special beings and we were gifted with one of the greatest. Whether it was coaching sports, helping with homework or encouraging us to be our best, our dad has always put us first. Now, with dreams of walking all of his daughters down the aisle, golfing with his beloved wife and taking his first grandchild and future grandchildren to the dump (yes, the dump) we hold on to hope these dreams will one day become reality.

Furthermore, because of his diagnoses and rapid decline in health he is no longer able to work after 41 years as a mechanic. Our mom, or one of us, is commuting with him to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA at least twice a week for treatments that can take up to 12 hours each time.  The medical bills are surpassing any of our expectations.  His inability to work and diagnoses has placed an overwhelming and immense financial stress on our family.

Asking for help is never easy, especially when you know others are fighting battles of their own. Even the smallest donation will mean more to our dad and his entire family than you can imagine.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read about our father.  Your contributions, support and prayers will help alleviate the unimaginable financial and emotional stress that has been placed on our family.

 With love and gratitude,

Tamrah, Jessica, Samantha and Miranda
