First-time DFL National Delegate!

I'm Nelsie Yang! I'm Hmong American, 21 years old, and will graduate from Minnesota State University, Mankato in May 2017. I am a proud DFLer because I believe in progress for all. I wasn't taught that excelling at the top 10% of my elemantary class would NOT stop administrators from putting me into two years of English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. The fact that my parents were refugees seemed to give the education system permission to treat me as a second class citizen. 15 years later, I went to college where my advisor of TWO years assumed that I was an ESL international student because of the color of my skin. I confronted her the next day and felt liberation for the first time. All the prejudice I experienced in my life found its way to become injustice/discrimination/racism. I became a national delegate because I am determined to fight for Bernie Sanders, a progressive individual who stands for justice, racial equity, equality, livable wages, and so much more. For the next five months, I will apply my grassroots skills to make sure that all citizens get out their vote! Voter suppression needs to END! It is important to me that Trump becoming President is not the history I have to share to my future children.
