De-ICE

In our community, there is a wonderful family who has been senselessly torn apart by recently increased immigration enforcement. As citizens, we were told that undocumented immigrants who were involved in criminal activities would be immediately arrested and deported. Of course, we can all support that, which is why IT WAS ALREADY HAPPENING!But, it was a lie and the family for whom this page has been created is a perfect example.

He is a hardworking man, devoted husband and wonderful father with NO criminal background. In fact, he was picked up because he would not quit going to work (even though he knew ICE was in the area) without providing his company with two weeks' notice. 

He and his wife have four beautiful children, two of whom experience developmental delays. He is a completely involved father who is committed to spending time with his family and helping his children to reach their fullest potential.  The only time he has ever missed a conference or meeting for the kids is when those appointments were made during his working hours. 

In my time spent with his daughters, I have observed these giggly, fun-loving, indpendent, happy-go-lucky, social butterflies become quiet and withdrawn. The most difficult issue has been watching them panic anytime I leave the room, clinging to me and crying. They seem to now live in fear of the people about whom they care, disappearing. Currently, the girls believe their daddy is out of town working...what would you tell your babies - how would you explain what is going on?

By selling every possession with which they could reasonably part, borrowing from friends and family, and saving any tiny amount possible after paying their bills, his lovely wife has managed to raise $5,200 of the $10,000 required to bring him home on bond so he can return to work and complete the documentation process (which was already in process when he was ripped away from his life). 

Many of my friends have already contributed generously to the family. To you, I ask that you reach out to others who have not yet contributed to this or similar situations. To my friends who have not yet helped but would like to, I would ask that you consider helping with any amount - by reaching out and spreading the word, all of those $5, $10, $20 or whatever else you can manage, will add up quickly and help to make this family whole again.
