What a season!!! Decatur Robotics started the season as a real underdog with no school mentor and no funding, and now we are the 2016 FIRST Robotics State Champions!!! Our 2016 team of 12 high school students from the City of Decatur showed time and time again that ingenuity, strategy and pure grit make a huge difference and can defy expectation. With the state championship win, Global Dynamics Team 4026 qualified to compete in the FIRST Robotics World Championships as a top team representing the state of Georgia. Worlds will be held in St. Louis, MO, April 27-30, 2016, and we need to raise $17,000 by April 25th!!! GE has already donated $5,000 toward this goal, but we still have a ways to go. We need YOUR help! Your support will help us pay for travel/lodging, robot fixes and improvements, and team paraphernalia.
Overall this 2016 season, expenses have increased from years past, and Team 4026 has been running on a minimal budget – recycling robot parts and being creative. A lot has been achieved with the support from our sponsors: General Electric, Johnson Research and Development, Decatur Education Foundation (DEF), Big Nerd Ranch, HFR & Associates (A/E firm), H&L Engineering, and our wonderful mentors Ken Craig, Jeremy Roberts, Mike Yarnold, and Aaron Hillegass. To take us to the next level, we now need the help of our community. We will represent Decatur on the international stage, competing side by side with some of the best high school robotics teams in the world.
