My Journey to Olympics 2016
Donation protected
Background:
My name is Deborah John. I am the 2015 & 2014 Trinidad and Tobago, 100m hurdles National Champion. I graduated from North Dakota State University (NDSU) in 2014, where I received my Bachelors degree in Business Management . It was there at NDSU, that I was introduced to the hurdles event and my dream of one day representing my country at the Olympic Games was birthed. At NDSU, I hold the school records in the 60m hurdles, 100m hurdles and 4x100m relay events , as well as, All-American status for competing at the 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships. I last represented my country internationally at the 2015 (NACAC) North American, Central American and Caribbean Championship Games in San Jose, Costa Rica and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The PLAN:
In order to improve my chances of achieving the Olympic standard, I will be moving to Dallas,Texas to train with a group of hurdlers, who will also be vying to represent their country at Rio. I have been in contact with Coach Sammy Dabbs, to join his training camp in preparation for Rio 2016. I am confident that under his tutelage I will continue to develop to an elite level.
With the amount of time that needs to be devoted to training, it is difficult to find a full-time job that is flexible enough to enable the rigorous training schedule. Last year I worked and trained by myself in Fargo ND, but came up short of making the World Championship standard. I strongly believe that this move is necessary for 2016.
So with only less than one year to prepare for the 2016 Olympic Trials and Games, anyone that wishes to donate to help in this endeavor, please know that your funds are going towards training cost, competition traveling, nutrition, physiotherapy, rent, etc. Know that your contributions (great or small), will be sincerely appreciated and utilized effectively in furthering my athletic development. Thank you all in advance.
