Dave Anderson (Medical Care)

To all of you who love Dave Anderson.  This is not an easy thing for us to write and ask for, but it is so necessary for David.

Last Sunday morning David was transported to the University of Colorado hospital in Aurora, Colorado after calling 911.  David has the Flu, Pneumonia, and his left leg had bruising all over it and had swollen to twice the size of his other leg. The pain was excruciating but you know David, he was acting like it was nothing. It was determined he has Necrotizing Fasciitis, a very rare and aggressive infection, that spreads quickly throughout the body, causing tissue death at the site and beyond.  He went into surgery for approximately 4 hours to remove the infected tissue, the surgeon said he thought they had got most, if not all, of the infection out. He said David was really unstable throughout the entire surgery and that it was extremely difficult. They moved him to the SICU for the night and kept trying to stabilize him. The next morning Dave was brought back to the OR and it was discovered the infection had spread more. At that point it was either trying to save his life, or save his leg. Dave’s left leg was amputated above the knee in order to save his life.  Currently, his pneumonia is worse and a drain tube has been placed in his right lung to drain the fluid.  Last night, he was very restless and violently started thrashing, today his ventilator was turned down allowing him to breathe more on his own which in turn, he relaxed more.  The infection in his leg, the doctors believe, at this time is under control. For two days in a row there has been no sign of infection in it.  We are cautiously optimistic. He started a medication today to help remove the excess fluid in his lungs and to help in other areas where he is retaining fluid. His kidney functions continue to improve.  David is able to hold his blood pressure within normal ranges on his own.
He is still in a life threatening situation, as his situation could change at any moment.  Right now he is heading down the path to recovery, hopefully this direction will continue. In recovery, he will need skin grafts, reconstructive surgery on his leg, physical therapy and of course a prosthetic leg.  We discovered today that David does not have ANY short term or long term disability and he will not be able to work for a long time.  His daughter, Marriah, is the beneficiary to this fund as she will be managing his finances for him.  We know this will be a  very lenghty process & recovery....

You guys know David and what he loves to do.  He is an avid fisherman, hunter, and shed hunter among many, many other things.  He recently took up his new favorite hobby of riding Harley Davidson's. Moving forward, he is going to need so much help and support from everyone in many ways. He would NEVER be the one to ask! But we are asking for him, PLEASE, help him out and make a donation.  The expenses moving forward are going to be astronomical and he needs your help. Please donate whatever you can and pass this around so that maybe some people we don't know will donate as well.

A message from David's daughter, Marriah:

This is David's daughter, Marriah. I just wanted to take the time and thank you all for supporting and helping my dad through this this time as well as me. He means everything to me. I know he's strong enough to get through this. He's the strongest human being I've known in my life. Throughout my lifetime my dad has always been there guiding me through the rough times. Now, it's my turn to be there for him. It's going to take a long time for him to get better and to recover from this.  So, honestly, anything you can donate, every bit will help and let it be known that it is very much appreciated!  I NEED my dad and I'm well aware of the time this is going to take for him to come home again.  Anyone and everyone reading this please help us share this link to help spread his story so he can get as much help as possible. Thank you so very much! With love, David's daughter~ Marriah S. Anderson.
