DASI Tour Travel Expenses

Haribol! For all of you that take the time to read this, it means so much to me. My name is Anasuya Rico and I am reaching out as a representative of the DASI team. I am from the New Raman Reti community in Alachua, Florida and I have been involved in many youth organizations and projects, not only within my community, but others as well. As some of you may know I have come together with a group of young ladies to organizing a project called DASI. DASI aims to provide a greater scope of service opportunities for young adult girls in ISKCON. DASI will be taking a group of 10 girls and attend the various Rathyatra festivals where we will be doing services such as henna, gopi dots, kirtan and bharatanatyam dances.

My experience on Kishori Yatra was life-changing, not only for me, but for countless other girls. Kishori Yatra’s focus is to give girls, ages 11-16, an opportunity to travel throughout North America, visiting temples, performing devotional service, and learning the basics of Krsna Consciousness, all within an environment of adventure and friendship. Having attended Kishori yatra for 8 years I began as a young Kishori to soon becoming a leader and helping the new girls that came on the tour; I’ve seen how having an experience like Kishori Yatra where you are traveling and bonding with other devotee girls allows one to grow mentally and spiritually. I believe every girl should have at least one experience like this in their lifetime.

I saw the need to create an opportunity for the young adult girls to continue serving and traveling.  I got together with like-minded people, presented this idea, and together we created DASI. DASI’s mission is to empower and inspire young adult girls to use their talents in Krishna’s service, by helping bring new energy to the summer festivals around North America. This is a way to ensure that all girls can have an amazing experience bonding with girls from all over, all while deepening their relationship with Krishna.  This is an opportunity to give back to not only our communities which have raised us, but also to Srila Prabhupada and his movement.

DASI is intended to be the next step after Kishori Yatra as well as to bring in other girls from all over the world, who want to have a new devotional experience. We are offering dramas, henna, new dances choreographed by the girls themselves, gopi dots, kirtan, and coordinated dancers in front of the Rathayatra carts.

I am extremely blessed to be sharing this project with you all . I personally feel very strongly about this and am so happy to be investing my time and energy into DASI. The concept of this project has been discussed by many of the girls on our team for a long time and it’s about time we bring this idea to life. The young adult girls in our ISKCON family have so much to offer and now it’s just about creating opportunities to engage their talents in service to Krishna. I am so grateful that I have such a strong group of young women to help me in the endeavor to start this project. They are all graduate Kishori’s who have traveled together for many years and have done numerous different bus tours. They are such a talented, smart, inspiring, ambitious, hardworking group of girls and I am so blessed to go on this adventure with them. With all of your blessings and help we wish to do our best to serve the vaisnavas. On behalf of the DASI team , I humbly ask for your blessings and support in our endeavours to create this project for all the generations of strong women to come.

If  this project inspires you in anyway, and you would like to help, there are many ways to do so. Currently we are fundraising for our travel expenses mainly being gas and the cost for our van. Any donation helps, whether it’s big or small; every little bit gets us closer to our goal. We also have a few other specific areas that need support, so if anyone would like to sponsor these items, please message DASI directly.  This project is an offering of gratitude to Srila Prabhupada and all of you who have supported your local youth in every way shape and form. Please share this post and like our Facebook and Instagram pages to stay up to date with our journey!

Your servant Anasuya D.D.
