Dartmoor Prison Escape
My name is Leading Hand (Logistician- Supply Chain) Dan Crawshaw and I have been serving with the Royal Navy for 12 years and have also been a volunteer with the Sea Cadets for the last 9 years.
The Sea Cadets is a national youth charity, working with 14,000 young people between 10 and 18 years old across the UK. It has 400 units across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and Bermuda all run by 9,000 volunteers. The Sea Cadets values are embedded in everything we in the Royal Navy also do and underpin how cadets behave and treat one another:
•Loyalty: To be faithful in all who invest in me.
•Honesty & Integrity: To tell the truth and be a good person.
•Respect: To appreciate and be considerate to others.
•Commitment: To do what I say I will.
•Self-discipline: To do what I must.
My hometown unit of T.S. Lookout, serves Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale, we’re not that big, but we have had a massive impact on the lives of youths in our area and I want to help give something back. The building we have isn’t the best in the world- it’s converted from an old mill, it’s built under a flyover dual carriageway and its cold in the winter and theRoyal Marines Cadets barracks in the basement is damp! But the cadets still come week after week as they enjoy it there!
On July 7th I will be taking part in the Dartmoor Prison break (www.dartmoorprisonbreak.com/dartmoor-prison-ultra-event) a 24 hour race to get as far as possible, on foot from Dartmoor Prison, in Princetown, Devon and I’m asking if you will please support me in this evet.
