Trip to South Africa to Help People With AIDs

I am going on a trip to South Africa with girl guiding working in partnership with the Bulild4TheFuture programme and Coco’s Foundation. I will be going on the 13-29th of August 2020. Build4TheFuture provides homes and shelter for families ‘lead’ by young children in the KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa. These families have been severely affected by HIV and AIDs. The Build4TheFuture programme is designed to help young people like me to understand these families worlds. I will be travelling with a group of 14 Guides from around West Sussex, to south Africa, we will be building two houses for two families in need, giving out at least two meals a day to the children. In the region I am visiting there are about 9,000 orphans. Many of their parents have died from AIDS or related illnesses, and the children live in groups for safety. It is not unusual for 20 children to be living in one house. These children also most likely have obtained HIV from the horrific abuse they have faced in their childhood. I want to help to change this. To fundraise, so far I have organised a cycling trip to France, a sponsored fun run, bag packing at a supermarket, an evening of African food and music and even more details to follow. Watch this space. I need to raise £4000 for the trip. I have to cover flights, accommodation and the food and resources I need to take with me for the building.
