Da'Monique's NYLF:LAW/CSI Fundraiser

My daughter Da'Monique Kelly is sophomore at Hackensack High School and has been nominated to represent her school and the Hackensack community at The National Leadership Forum (NYLF): LAW & CSI to be held at George Mason University in the Washington DC Metro area. By attending The National Leadership Forum (NYLF): LAW & CSI, She will join other motivated students from around the country for an experiential (leadership/career exploration) program. I have enclosed a sample of our itinerary for your review. As you can see, this will be a powerful experience, enabling Da'Monique to interact with respected professionals in various fields while building relationships with students who will be her future colleagues. Attending this program will enable her to further her interest in the field of Law/Law Enforcement/ CSI and reach my career goals of becoming a Detective/Forensic Pathologist . Da'Monique maintains a 3.5 GPA, She is involved in Girls Basketball, Heros and Cool Kids mentorship program, Platoon color guard at Hackensack Police Department's Junior Police Academy and was recently awarded Honor Roll for the 6th marking period in a row. Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life-changing experience when you were in school and were presented with the task of rallying family, educators, clergy, community, government, local business, law enforcement and friends alike to support you financially in order to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity. That is why I am writing to you today. Da'moniques participation in the program depends on whether we can raise $1500 in sponsorships. (The program tuition is $2095 and her travel expenses to the program will be approximately $200.) Da'Monique is investing $499 of her own money to pay for the deposit (due by Feb 15) to make sure that she does not miss out on this unique experience and I am sure that she would be willing to take on little side jobs to raise the funds needed. I understand my responsibility as a parent to take financial responsibility for my daughter's educational endeavors, but a campaign such as this allows these teens to see that people other than their parents believe in them and are willing to make a small investment in their future.
