Dale Texas Community Center

My name is Jeffrey Stofle Jr. I am a Life Scout in Troop 125 Kyle, TX

I have been in Scouting for the past 6 years, and before that was a Cub Scout for 5 years. I have decided for my Boy Scout Eagle project to replace the existing wooden basketball back boards and goals in the Dale, TX Community Center formerly Dale High School. Dale Texas was founded in 1880, and the Dale School was built in 1905.

The gymnasium is in excellent shape, but the basketball goals are outdated and dangerous. At one end of the gym the overhead goal has a pin and when they have a function in the gym someone must climb a ladder and remove the pin to swing the goal up out of the way of the stage. My project will be a new overhead goal with the electric winch on a switch. This will be much safer for all.

I thought of this project when I went to the gym to practice basketball drills with my sister who plays on a select basketball team. I believe that once the basketball goals are replaced with new up to date glass back boards and goals, this will encourage more kids in the area to use this gym. If the funds permit, I want to do also add a small score board. My dad is in construction and I have met a bunch of people through my dad, so I expect to get a lot of help for the installation, so these funds will be used for the back boards and goals.

Thank you for your support towards my project.

Yours in Scouting,

Jeffrey
