Daddy and Son Emergency Fundraiser

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read through this.

My driven, go getting, never-say-die self has been forced to accept a temporary setback. Humbled and burned out I initiate this GoFundMe. Knowing the stigma that comes with these fund raisers, vulnerable I take the leap into the world of ridicule. That's OK. I know who I am and the daily grind I find myself in. Roger that. Those who know me can testify to the fact I am the last one in line asking for help. Ever.

The Situation

- I am a single father of a soon to be 5 year old boy named Max. I am his primary caregiver and he is with me during week days and often also weekends.
I cover all costs raising Max. Food, clothes, toys, adventures as well as pre school fees and any unforeseen expenses.

- We are not receiving any child support nor any aid from the government or anyone else [ for almost 2 years ]. The government aspect of it is something I am working on. I feel as a single parent one should receive some aid raising a child with the high cost of living these days. However as we know, anything government related takes time. Many forms and phone calls. This is a work in progress and some out of control factors and loose ends that needs to be properly aligned.

- I work from home as a music producer and sound designer. This is and has been my full time career and passion for 20+ years.
My music and work can be found on Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music/iTunes, Google Music, Soundcloud and on countless record label websites. You can also hear my work in many TV Shows like Face Off, Stylista, America's Next Top Model and many more.

The fact I CAN work from home is a saving grace in this situation. It not only allows me to just get up and get to work without long commute, it also allows me spending a lot of time with Max.  I am there for him no matter what, no matter when. Yes this means my schedule is pretty colorful. I adopted a "get after it" mindset by getting up at 4-5 AM to get some extra hours of work, exercise and housework done before my son wakes up.

We both live in a house in BC, Canada. Rent is as good as it gets for what we have. [ details below ]

- I pay for the rent, hydro [ electricity, heat, water ], Internet [ I need it for work ], phone, food, clothes and any temporary cost that may appear in life.

- Last year I was let go of my full-time job as a producer, programmer and sound designer due to unforeseen circumstances. One reason being the fact I constantly juggle my time in between work and childcare, not to mention up-keeping the house., inside out.  

- Since this came out of the blue and me learning to never put all my eggs in one basket, the grind became real, fast. I've forced myself to put my nose to the grindstone, and I’m constantly trying to find work. I’m not sitting on my laurels.
I work with clients on and off, do some mixing and mastering for people as well as constantly submitting my resume to Trailer Music companies, labels, music supervisors, artists, basically anyone who could be in need of some music or soundtracks. 

- I am not living the pipe dream of being a Rockstar. I’m not interested in the type of lifestyle that entails, and I've already had that experience. I realize that there are very few people buying music these days. This is why I've shifted my focus to production music and things of that nature. A lot of positive conversations and e-mails are happening in the background, so I know this is a temporary pump on the road of life. 

- Have I talked to my bank about a loan? Of course. More than once. The second you mention self employed and music producer to a bank, it is a no go. At least for now...

- Have I asked family and friends? Of course.

- "Just get a day job in the meantime". I of course looked at that option. The salary I would get from a minimum/low wage type of job would barely, if at all cover the childcare cost I would have to take on in order to have someone watch my son while I would be out and about working. Much less cover rent, food and bills. Childcare around here full time is between [phone redacted] Canadian Dollars a month, sometimes even more.

So the bottom line is I am planting many seeds daily. I am very active in finding the next solid and reliable gig. I’m concerned that some of you will see this campaign as a sign of weakness, or that I’m a lazy and useless person whining. I go all out, 24/7. Always working on improving my skills, my health, my mindset and parenting skills. Those who know me in person can verify this with ease.
I have also made any adjustments possible to lower monthly cost of living. No car or any recreational non must have items.

This is more about a temporary stress relief while keeping the house operational  for Max and myself. This allows me to focus on finishing what really needs to be done without constant derailing from random short term gigs and such.  As much as I appreciate every single one.
Been doing this as a single parent  for over 2 years. 
The fundraiser goal is a number based on the basic monthly costs for 3 months. Not including food or phone.

I love being a father more than I could explain with words. My son Max has seen me down and overwhelmed. As much as I would like to keep my rock solid Viking stance at all times, this time I am taking a bullet for the team.
