A team of 10 students from Byron Bay High School are about to embark on a trip that will change lives, for the better!
Our tour of Cambodia in September 2017 will involve one very special week. We will be volunteering for an NGO called Volunteer Building Cambodia. Website: http://www.volunteerbuildingcambodia.org/
VBC builds houses for very disadvantaged families in Siem Reap province and other parts of Cambodia.
As citizens of Australia, and residents of Byron Shire, we know we are lucky. We feel so privileged to be able to assist families living in very basic conditions, in a disadvantaged community and in one of the poorest countries in the world!
A house just costs $2900 USD to build. (That is about $4050.00 AUD.) We have been raising some money selling cakes and running a BBQ at school and some other activities. We are enjoying this challenge, and really appreciate the support we have received from students, staff and community BBHS in these activities.
This crowdfunding request is a way for the broader Byron Bay HS community, Byron Shire businesses or any interested person to support our goal to build two houses.
We think this crowdfunding goal should be very achievable by the Byron Bay HS and broader community, who are so incredibly fortunate to enjoy the quality of life we have.
If every student in our school ,contributed $5.00 , then we would reach the $4000.00 AUD we need to build a house!
Not every family or Byron business is in a position to contribute, but we know many of you can! If you cannot donate, then please share a link to this page to people in your network who might be interested to help.
