Our home

14 years. That’s how long I was in this painful, destructive relationship. I experienced forms of emotional, physical and sexual abuse, the damage of which is too traumatizing for me to feel safe describing here. I have only just escaped this situation and have just begun the journey of putting my life back together. But I continue to face some challenging prospects… I have two kids, who were raised in the house that I currently live in. My physician has issued me with a medical exemption from work, and not having an income means for the past 7 months I’ve been hanging by a thread to keep us in our home. We are in danger of not having a roof over our heads. We are at a loss over what to do.

I have a 2-year protective order against my ex-partner, for the kids and myself. I just got the child support order and he gets no visitation, and he refuses to pay any child support fees. Before all this happened, we were in the process of purchasing the home – the remaining amount is $2000. We need to pay this off, so when things stabilize, we can sell the house on the market to make ends meet. Then there’s also lot-rent,the monthly bills, and legal fees to worry about.

I’m reaching out because my children and I have been through so much and we desperately need to pick up the pieces. I cannot afford to lose this home now, for the sake of my kids, who need to heal from all this. I worry for their future and what this might to do them. They’ve been through enough. I don’t know how much more I have to put up with and am at my wits’ end. But I know I have to try and make this appeal and put it out there, as a last-ditch effort. I really, really need the help, and my kids deserve better than what has happened to them. If anyone is willing to help us get on our feet again, no matter how much you are able to contribute, I would be eternally grateful and more than willing to pay it forward, ASAP.
