CWS Durham is a refugee resettlement and immigration legal services agency providing transitional support for newly arrived refugees in the Triangle area.
Our work includes case management, employment assistance, English classes, immigration legal aid, and medical access support for new arrivals.
Due to the newly implemented executive order that has paused all refugee resettlement for 120 days and includes a host of other devastating policie , our office is reeling .
Not only is this heartwrenching to the clients we serve and the family members they hope to bring to safety, but it also means our office is facing a dramatic funding deficit for the next 4 months.
Because federal funding for resettlement offices is determined by the number of refugees resettled through those offices, a pause on resettlement means a pause on federal fiscal support. Without your help, we won't be able to keep our doors open or our staff paid to continue serving refugees who already live here.
