Help Vibrant Young Woman Survive

Life is a series of moments. Irreversible, inexplicable, amazing, devastating, enthralling, confusing, unforgettable, and most of all priceless. They weave the experiences unique to each and every person. Moments tell the story of each individual, a colorful rainbow of thread in the loom we call life. Everyone has a combination of past, present, future; a story that makes them who they are. Through and through, an undeniable Fighter named Cat Davis is strengthened and created by the story that is harbored within her soul, in every breath that she takes, and in the very essence of her being.
Looking at Cat Davis, you would admire a beautiful, young woman filled with vibrance and life. However, beginning in 2009, she has fought vigorously against a rare disease known as Rapidly Advancing Diffuse Scleroderma. This uncommon illness causes the body to form excess connective tissue, similar to scar tissue, that progressively hardens decreasing her bodies’ ability to do what it is supposed to. The unfortunate truth is that Cat’s body was slowly turning to stone, a painful and terrifying process with a prognosis of 2-5 years to live. In 2010, Cat, with her doctors and family beside her, started to search for any available treatments. After many months of working to find a cure, spending thousands of dollars, and almost losing her life due to blood infections, Cat arrived at the option of a Stem Cell transplant. After being evaluated, it was clear that this was their only chance at fighting her disease. However, the insurance denied this experimental procedure again and again, and they worked day and night to come up with the money. After an amazing CURE FOR CAT campaign, she was able to get the procedure beginning the new year of 2013. Despite this dire diagnosis, Cat Davis has strived to fight back, and has continuously risen above the negative.

However, Cat’s family has not only been burdened with the hardship of a life-threatening illness and it’s subsequent battles, but they have weathered many other storms. Presently, the Davis family is struggling and overwhelmed with financial difficulties. In addition, their family home is facing foreclosure. Cat’s father, Jim, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2012, an entirely devastating illness in itself, and recently had to be placed in a home for Alzheimer’s patients. Cat’s parents, Jim and Sally, have a grandson (Cat’s nephew) named Jameson who was born a bilateral amputee, having no lower arms or hands. And as if all of these challenges were not enough, Cat’s uncle, Tom, just recently lost his battle to cancer, after a brave struggle to stay alive. This one family has endured more than anybody should have to see in their lifetimes, yet they are the most positive and faithful people one would ever know. They believe in fighting and never giving up. Together, they have leaned on one another and gotten through it all as best as they can. Cat continues to have “flare ups”, in which she describes as “when the chronic symptoms of scleroderma decide to wake up and hit you all at once”. It is so painful for her and makes her very sick for days on end. However, she manages to get though each one day by day. When she is not sick in bed, she spends her days visiting friends in the hospital and at home who are fighting this same horrible disease. She is an inspiration to us all. To learn what a strong brave woman she is, please visit her Facebook page “Cure for Cat”. Yet the fight is not over yet. Cat’s first transplant has been performed, but she needs to return for her second year’s follow-up. Part of the commitment they made when they signed up for the transplant is to return each year for a check-up, however they have been unable to afford it. It is not only a donation to help another, but it is an investment in the type of person that colors our earth will a unique light that is rare and brilliant. As participants and believers in Cat’s fight against her illness, we have never believed more in a person’s ability to find light in the darkness. Cat not only fights for herself, but does everything she can to help others. Some people let disease get the best of them, but Cat and her family continue to smile and inspire us all. Please take part in not only saving Cat’s life, but saving the countless others that her positivity, hope, help, and inspiration will save along with her. This woman has maintained a beautiful brightness, and has a vibrant future ahead of her. Be a part of the CURE 4 CAT Campaign, and help this beautiful soul continue on in her battle against Rapidly Advancing Diffuse Scleroderma. Take part in the saving of an undeniably amazing human being… God Bless You!
