Cumby's Adopting from India

Twenty years ago, God set us out on a journey as husband and wife. During that time, we have grown to love one another and Christ more every day. You have watched our family grow from just the two of us to having two special blessings in Elly and Samuel. Today, we would like to include you on our journey to our next blessing…our journey to adopt a child from India!

God has placed the call of adoption on our hearts and when God places a burden on your heart, the only thing you can do is take action. This happened once before with Elly and now we start the journey again! In the past few weeks, God has confirmed to us that NOW is our time to adopt. God has spoken time and time again to us through His body of believers!

A verse that speaks to us specifically is James 1: 27; “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” As Christians we are called to support adoption, because we ourselves are adopted through Christ. We might not all be called to adopt a child, but we are all called to support the orphans and widows! We are so thankful that God has called us to adopt…to be His hands and feet! What an honor!

We are in the initial stages of our adoption journey. At this time we have chosen an adoption agency (Children of the World) and have paid to have the homestudy process started. Unfortunately, the process of adoption requires that we step out on faith and be stretched in ways that are out of our comfort zone. We are so thankful that we have the means to provide for a child’s daily needs, but the reality is there is a substantial amount of money needed to bring this child home. Would you be willing to enter into this journey with us? Whether you feel led to help us financially or through your prayers and encouragement, it all means the world to us!

 Adopting from India will cost us about $26,000. Seems like a lot, but we know that our God already has it covered. This is where you and others come in! There are a couple of ways that you could financially support us now and in the future. Linda has started a blog that chronicles our adoption journey (cumby.blogspot.com). On our blog is a donation button that allows you to make a donation that will go directly to our gofundme this account. If you would rather send a check by mail, that would be fine as well. Either way, your donation will be used for the sole purpose of bringing our child home. Several payments are due NOW - $1900 for the homestudy to be completed and also $2300 to our adoption agency (application fee/portal fee/service fee #1)*. Any amount you feel led to give will be much appreciated and will bring us one step closer to bringing our child home! In addition, we are planning on having several adoption fundraisers. Follow along on the blog so that you can know when we are doing each fundraiser.

This letter has been one of much prayer and thought. Honestly, this may be the hardest thing that God has ever told us to do. We have struggled with the thought of asking you to support us. But, we also know that God uses His people for His purposes. We would be honored to know that you are willing to help us bring our child home. We are humbly on our knees before God, knowing that He will do great things through our faith in Him!
