HELP A DISABLED VET!
It’s time to rally around a disabled vet in need, folks!
Orville gave this country 12 years of service in the Air Force maintaining some of the first mainframe computers but was forced into a disability discharge due to heart issues.
Just 3 years ago he lost his wife of 40 years and is now faced with a house (that he has lived in for 30 years!) that, as he puts it, is falling apart and he can’t afford the repairs!
Orville and his wife had 5 children, one of which is ALSO disabled and living in the house with him. He claims the winter showed him $600/mo power bills due to the lack of insulation and a tarp is currently covering a hole in the roofing above the bathroom.
The most PRESSING ISSUE, however is that two VERY large pine trees are leaning out over his house … poised to fall on the roof … and he has no funds to remove them! One tree in his front yard (adjacent to where one of the leaners still stands) broke at the base last year and, although it fell AWAY from his home, it landed on a neighbor’s garage roof doing substantial damage.
Last summer when the temperatures were bouncing around the 100 degree mark, he could be found WALKING, with cane in one hand and a grocery bag in the other, across town to get groceries because neither of his vehicles were operational.
A disabled veteran with a heart disability walking nearly a mile to the store and back is NOT healthy!
We can’t fix all of the issues at once, but we can CERTAINLY put together funds as a community to get the dangerous trees removed! We have seen quotes for $4000 and $5000 PER TREE to get them removed, but just today a local Spokane tree service offered to help the cause by removing BOTH for around $4000!!! These trees are around 115’ tall and would DESTROY the house if and when they fall!
The fact that tree removal is even a remote possibility is overwhelming to Orville ... it is nNOT simply a possibility ... let's make it a REALITY! And the sooner the better!
As we approach the 4th of July we all like to say how patriotic we are. It’s time to put your money where your Red White And Blue mouth is.
Let’s see how much we can put together for Orville! Anything over and above the cost of removing the two trees can be applied to roof repairs and insulation which would be HUGE.
