Cross World Africa Inc. (www.crossworldafrica.com) started in 2007 with the desire to aid people of Sub-Saharan Africa; Kenya in particular. CWA focused on developing projects, primarily led by women, through purchasing cows then giving their calves to others in the community. There have been 30 program recipients.The family sells the milk which pays for school fees, shelter and living expenses. In 2013 CWA developed a micro-finance lending program for women-owned businesses. The inaugural program included business management training, accounting basics for participants who worked in developing bee keeping/honey sales, chili pepper, seamstress/clothing tailor, hair salon/barber shop, and photography businesses.
With your help, we can grow the cow program so that more young girls can continue their education. We have a re-commitment of micro-loan funds but want to provide more innovative business women opportunities to reach beyond their village to the nation.
We continue to provide school tuition and uniform scholarships for children living in Kibera (Nairobi's largest squatter settlement) and have given computers and sports equipment for a middle school in Kapsabet. We work as pro-bono advisors to local high schools and implemented an SAT prep program for future Kenyan Scholars. CWA Executive Director Kevin Thompson collaborates with Dr. Benedette Tiony who is a Kenya-based Project Manager and Veteranarian. All donations are tax-deductible for the US-based 501(c)3. CWA runs with a volunteer administrative staff and board. Project management is limited to 5% so that 95% of all funds are used for programming.
